Mavic Sale

We've got a great sale on Mavic wheels at The Bike Factory that you're not going to want to miss out on. It is commonly said in the cycling world that the best upgrade for your bike is the wheels. Read on for some great reasons why Mavic should be your first choice.

There are a few names that are as synonymous with cycling heritage as Mavic. The French brand has been around since 1889 when it was established by Charles Idoux and Lucien Chanel for the manufacture and sale of bicycle components. One of the jewels in the company's crown in those early days was the 'apron mudguard', a pioneering design for an accessory much of the cycling industry now takes for granted. This forward-thinking and innovative spirit has run through the DNA of Mavic since day one.

Mavic were world-leaders in aerodynamics and it became the basis for dramatic innovations. The French company's components have been race-proven on and off road, perhaps most notably in 1989, with Greg LeMond's unlikely Tour de France win just eight seconds ahead of Laurent Fignon. A few years later, they were the talk of the town when Chris Boardman turned up to the 1992 Olympics with the Mavic tri-spoke wheel, and they were the first to trial electronic shifting in the very same year. The French company's wheels are a common feature on off-the-shelf bikes for many bike brands and are an equally common upgrade for the discerning cyclist.

In 2015, Mavic applied their forward-thinking philosophy to a new project called the Col Collective, an initiative which seeks to inspire and educate cyclists about the greatest climbs in the world and how to get to the top of them, with training and nutritional advice, all through the medium of beautiful cinematography. The Col Collective and Mavic collaborate to produce videos which are an awe-inspiring motivator for every viewer, wherever they are in the world.

Have a look at the Col Collective video from the Monte Grappa climb, which the peloton will take on in just a few weeks, on Stage 20 of the Giro d'Italia:

Mavic has been a supplier for the Cannondale Drapac Pro Cycling Team for many years and this season, their flagship Cosmic wheels have been pedalled to a stage win at Coppi e Bartali, onto the Paris-Roubaix podium, into the KOM jersey at the Tour of the Basque Country and into countless breakaways.

The range from Mavic are some of the best and most consistently well-reviewed wheelsets on the market, with the Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Sl Clincher receiving 'Exceptional' and faultless reviews from Road.cc and Cycling Weekly respectively. Both praised the improved brake surface in wet and dry weather, and a lighter overall weight, two features which both come without a compromise on performance.

The Mavic Ksyrium Disc Allroad wheelset is a relatively new addition to the Ksyrium family, catering for the blossoming trend for riding unpaved roads. These wheels are robust, fast and versatile, coming in at a great price for a carbon wheelset.
